Jax Carter, the bastard son of a disgraced maid and a renowned fight gym patriarch, has trained in secret under three outlaw masters, carrying the weight of betrayal and shame. When he is entered into "The Crucible"—an elite, once-in-a-generation MMA proving ground—he must bear the physical burden of thousands of pounds of hidden resistance training while his own family tries to crush his spirit. As vicious rivals rise and the spotlight burns, Jax is determined to prove one thing: he wasn't born to be broken by his past; he was meticulously built in the shadows to become the undisputed, brutal king of the cage.
