Everyone knew that Nathan Xavier and Jennifer Miller were a perfect couple destined to be together. But at the age of marriage, the family rules became the biggest obstacle. According to the Xavier family’s ancestral rules, the heir had to personally go to the ancestral hall and drew a lot. Only after five years of trials could the couple be recognized. The first year, Nathan drew the lot with the number ten. It meant they could only meet ten times and say ten sentences a year, and each sentence was limited to ten words. The second year, Nathan drew the number nine. Jennifer bit her lip and held back her tears. She just twisted and untied the red string he’d given her over and over again, until the pads of her fingers were rubbed raw and red.
