To find a sincere love that had nothing to do with her family background, Evie deliberately hid her true identity and got engaged to Julian as an ordinary girl. At the wedding, Julian forced Evie to kneel and apologize to his assistant, Alia. Refusing to endure the humiliation, Evie publicly called off the wedding.
Alia staged a fake drug-induced collapse and pinned all the blame on Evie. Unwilling to believe her explanation, Julian and his family used a mental health evaluation as an excuse to have the perfectly lucid Evie forcibly admitted to a psychiatric medical center. There, whether she argued or remained calm, everything was deemed a symptom of her supposed illness. Evie was unjustly imprisoned for eight months.
Dr. Hart, an honest and upright physician, discovered that Evie’s admission paperwork was riddled with suspicious inconsistencies. After investigating and filing complaints, he helped have her admission revoked and secured her freedom. But the moment Evie walked out of the hospital, Julian took her straight to his wedding with Alia. It turned out that the two had already married while Evie was imprisoned. At the wedding, they even played surveillance footage of Evie breaking down, publicly destroying her reputation.
No longer hiding her identity, Evie finally began using her own power. At the same time, the years-long conspiracy of Alia and her brother gradually came to light. The siblings had drained Julian’s business assets and were even plotting to eliminate Evie. Working with the police, Evie presented evidence exposing their crimes of false accusations, forged documents, and unlawful confinement.
The trial uncovered an old secret: the obsession with revenge that had driven Alia and her brother stemmed from the lies their parents had left behind. With nowhere left to turn, Theo drove his car into the crowd in an attempt to kill Evie, but Julian sacrificed himself to protect her. After surviving the ordeal, Julian finally realized the extent of his mistakes. Evie chose to offer him friendship and support, but firmly refused to reconcile.
Evie finally moved beyond the pain of her past and fell in love with Dr. Hart, a man who knew how to listen to and respect her. The old psychiatric facility was transformed into a charitable hospital dedicated to protecting victims. With her name cleared, Evie finally took complete control of her own life.
