Valeria Romano is the only daughter of Chicago's mafia don. Three days before her wedding, she finds her fiancé Nico with his mistress, and learns he stitched the woman's name into her gown. She doesn't cry. She calls her father and accepts a childhood marriage contract with Damian Orsini, Chicago's most dangerous underboss. On the wedding day, when Nico defends his mistress and humiliates her in public, Valeria walks into the gold hall across the way and marries Damian instead. Then comes the evidence, the lies, the fake cancer, the fake pregnancy, and the ex who won't let go. But Damian never decides for her. He only stands in front of her. In the end, she chooses herself.
