Masters of the Chongshan Mountains

Series details

Masters of the Chongshan Mountains is a 40-episode period legend drama set in the Xiangxi Miao frontier. Set against the turbulent backdrop of China in the early 20th century, it integrates intangible Miao martial arts, chaotic-era love and hatred, as well as loyalty to family and country. Rooted in Miao villages of the Wuling Mountains, the series follows the intertwined fates of three Miao youths — Alian, Xiongqiang and Dawang — spanning thirty years. It depicts their passionate transformation from master-disciple grudges and martial world conflicts to fighting in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea. The production profoundly showcases exclusive Miao martial culture including Chi You Fist, Miao Broadsword and Silver Hairpin Combat. Taking silver ornaments as the emotional thread, it weaves together real historical events such as bandit upheavals in Xiangxi, the Battle of Shanghai and the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea. Built around martial spirit, nourished by tender emotions and concluded with philosophical enlightenment, the drama merges personal joys and sorrows into an epic of nation and land. Boasting distinctive regional features, vivid action sequences and profound humanistic depth, it interprets the protection, sacrifice and inner peace of martial artists amid chaotic times.
