In Mississippi’s Blackwater Bay, the old, buried sins of a fishing village lie hidden. On a rainy night, Martha pulls a mysterious woman, Leora, from the totem mudflat — a woman bound to a floating spirit shell. When the villagers, coveting the shell’s divine power, recklessly violate her, they accidentally shatter the shell that had imprisoned the Abyss. The long-buried curse breaks free. Spirals grow upon the bones of the guilty. The long-delayed reckoning from the deep sea quietly descends upon the entire coastal village.
