At a top law firm in Manhattan, New York, star partner Aiden and his personal assistant Eve have been in a secret relationship for three years. Aiden is used to controlling both their work and romance. He firmly believes Eve relies on his resources and mentorship, and will never leave him. During a full-staff meeting, Aiden mocks Eve publicly over a project disagreement. He snaps, “Hand in your resignation, and I’ll approve it right away,” hoping to force her to apologize. Unexpectedly, Eve pulls out a pre-prepared resignation letter on the spot. She takes the major client she has managed for half a year and joins a rival firm. Aiden starts out arrogant and dismissive. But as his work and personal life fall apart, he finally wakes up and begins his clumsy pursuit of Eve. After workplace battles, rivalry and repeated setbacks, Aiden sets aside his pride to apologize and confess his true feelings. Once Eve confirms his genuine change, they restart their relationship as equals.
