Elena Whitmore is the youngest top neurosurgeon in the country—until five years ago, when her father Sebastian crushed her right hand in a door hinge for refusing to falsify medical records to cover up her brother Noah's drunk-driving accident. Deliberately denied timely treatment, her nerve-damaged hand can never hold a scalpel again.
