Evelyn Sharp, a brilliant but neglected wife, discovers her husband Alexander Vance's affair with Scarlett and her family's manipulation. On their anniversary, she files for divorce, shedding her "mousey" persona to reclaim her identity as "The Oracle," a renowned medical researcher. She blocks Alexander, returns his money, and transforms her appearance, embracing independence and even street racing. Alexander, initially dismissive, becomes increasingly confused and jealous as Evelyn defies him. He attempts to control her through blackmail and deceit. Evelyn is drugged by Dr. Stone (Eleanor's accomplice), leading to a confusing encounter with Alexander, who, misled by a doctor, believes she's a drug addict. Evelyn escapes, blacklists Scarlett medically, and continues to assert her independence. The story culminates in a physical confrontation where Evelyn bites Alexander, asserting her boundaries, and a final scene where Scarlett fakes an illness, causing Alexander to shield her from his grandmother's cane, further highlighting his misplaced loyalty.
