For twenty years, Eden Thorne—the legendary Oracle Mentor and most powerful mage to ever live—has lived in quiet anonymity as a simple peasant farmer, his epic victory over the Dark Forces a buried secret. Even his son, Garrett, now a celebrated Knight Paramount, knows nothing of his father's true power. When the Dark Lord's shadow returns to threaten the kingdom of Vern, the Oracle is forced to emerge from hiding. Arriving at the capital in his humble garb, he is dismissed and mocked by the arrogant nobility. They are about to receive the lesson of a lifetime: the unassuming "beggar" they scorn is, in fact, their kingdom's only hope, and the father their greatest hero never knew he had.
