Modern woman Eleanor Penrose is transported to Eldoria, where she helps Edward Ravenshade ascend the throne. For twenty years, she champions sweeping reforms for women, while Edward promises never to take another wife and to pass the crown to their daughter, Clara Ravenshade. But when he returns from war with a pregnant consort, Vivian Harcourt, he breaks every promise. Heartbroken, Eleanor walks away, burning her wedding robes and shattering the jade she once cherished. Prince Nicholas, who has long loved her, rises against Edward as Eldoria descends into chaos and the Northern Nomads invade. Edward is forced to surrender territory for peace. While living in Southvale under Nicholas’s protection, Eleanor witnesses Edward’s brother, Xiao Jinghong, brutalize innocent people and kills him herself. In the end, Eleanor and Clara join forces, and Eleanor takes the throne to build a new dynasty.
