The heroine Ellie develops a permanent limp after saving the werewolf hero Ethan, only to be mocked by the pack and betrayed by her fiancé. Living under someone else's roof, she endures relentless bullying from her stepmother Clara and stepsister Vivienne, yet falls deeply in love with Ethan after he shields her from the rain with an umbrella. When she learns Ethan sees her as a gold-digging obstacle to his status, Ellie resolutely tears up their engagement and flees to the north. She establishes herself as a healer, meets Cole who quietly protects her, and regains her courage with his companionship. She returns to her hometown to expose the evil deeds of her father and stepmother, completing her revenge. In the end, she breaks free from prejudice and pain, lets go of her unrequited love, stays true to her calling as a healer, and gains genuine respect and true love.
