Series details

On death row for a crime she didn't commit, former army medic Raven Cole signs a "voluntary medical research" waiver hours before her execution — and wakes strapped to a machine in a windowless lab, facing a vampire nailed to the wall by silver spikes. She is Subject Fourteen: a living filter built to purify the toxin in his veins. The previous thirteen all died within fourteen days. But Raven's blood doesn't just dilute the venom — it reverses it. As the research director Dr. Kessler triples her dose to force a dormant genetic "awakening," Raven discovers she carries the blood of the Vane, the oldest pureblood vampire line on Earth. Bound to the 700-year-old Aldric through a blood-link neither can break, she learns the truth: her arrest, trial, and death sentence were engineered by a shadow program that has hunted her family for centuries. Together with Aldric's sister Elena and a scattered bloodline of 247 marked Vanes, Raven must survive betrayal, outwit a government that treats her as property, and face Ash Vane — the 6,000-year-old progenitor who has devoured two hundred of his own descendants to stay immortal. When Raven calls every living Vane through the blood-bond and seals Ash inside the ancestral altar, six thousand years of predation end. No longer a weapon or a prisoner, she chooses the only thing the bloodline was never allowed: to simply live.
