Tavern waitress Evelyn wagers her soul to summon demon king Valerius and save her sleeping sister Luna. Living in his castle, she discovers that the distant ruler always protects her, while Luna's illness leads to a three-thousand-year divine punishment: Evelyn and Valerius were created as twin sources of light and darkness and punished for loving, after which she shattered her soul through reincarnation and he searched for her across ages. Priestess Lydia first seeks to sacrifice Evelyn but finally repents and breaks the outer seal at the cost of her life. Evelyn awakens as Light, joins Valerius against divine law, and both renounce godhood to live in a human town with the healed Luna.
