Series details

t seventeen, Liam, the second son of New York's old-money Sterling family, was forced by his own father to take the fall and go to prison—disappearing for ten years. On the day of his release, what awaited him was not a hug, but a severance agreement thrown at him by his sister and the words, "You're never satisfied." Behind his stepmother's hypocritical care lay ten years of forged remittance slips. His half-brother used him as a human punching bag for sport. His father treated him as a tool to clean up the family's dirty debts—while his mother's ashes were locked on the bookshelf in his father's daily office, like a silent trophy. Everyone thought this dog who had been caged for ten years was broken. But no one knew that behind prison bars, he had spent ten years sharpening his teeth. When he pried an old key from his mother's jewelry box, opened the storage locker that had been sealed for ten years, and pressed play on that old phone—the scream of the fall, the hands that pushed, the image of his father coldly making a phone call—all the "accidents" crumbled into dust. The real murderer was the brother who stepped on his hands every day and laughed at him. And the "flesh and blood" his father had raised for twenty years was not his son at all. When the murder video was played publicly at a live-streamed press conference, when the DNA report was slapped in his father's face, when his sister knelt at his feet crying and begging for forgiveness—he pried her fingers off him one by one, turned, and walked away. "You've done nothing wrong. You just never once looked at me."
