As its chains shattered, it breathed in my scent and claimed me as its own.My stepsister stripped my dress from my body and snatched my necklace. Cloaked in my scent, she went on to marry into the royal palace in my place. Huddled alone in the woodshed, I clutched my stomach tightly, clinging to the last trace of my unborn child. They kicked the door open without mercy. Silver blades pierced through the air, brutally draining the life essence from the child in my womb to transplant it into my stepsister’s body. I collapsed to the ground, bleeding profusely, helpless and broken. My stepmother glanced at the guards at the door and tossed out a cold, cruel sentence:“She’s yours.”Grasping a shard of broken porcelain, I sliced open the beast’s wrist, thensmashedthroughthewindowandfledintotheforest.Twoswarmsof torch-bearing pursuers chased after me in the dark night. Cornered at the cliff’s edge, I saw him shift into human form and stretch out his hand toward me.I stepped backward, my heels hanging empty over the abyss.
