Sable, the female protagonist, was originally the fated mate of Kaelan, the Alpha of the Black Marsh Pack, and the current Luna. While she was eight months pregnant, Kaelan was manipulated by the scheming Petra and his own mother Isolde. In front of the entire pack, he used a branding iron soaked in wolfsbane to burn away the mark on Sable’s body that symbolized her status as his mate. He publicly severed their bond and named Petra the new Luna.
The severe wounds caused by the branding and the lingering effects of continuous poisoning led Sable to suffer massive bleeding during pregnancy, leaving her unborn daughter in critical danger. However, Kaelan coldly ignored her suffering. Believing Petra’s fabricated accusations, he became convinced that the child in Sable’s womb was not his own. Maren, a healer and Sable’s only loyal friend, secretly rescued her from the brink of death, performed an emergency C-section, and delivered a baby girl named Ember. Maren told Sable that the newborn urgently needed the Alpha bloodline bond from her biological father to stabilize her wolf spirit; otherwise, she would completely lose the ability to survive among wolves and become no different from an ordinary human. At the same time, Isolde sent legal documents forcing Sable to surrender custody of her daughter, intending to claim the child carrying the precious Drell bloodline for herself.
Just as mother and daughter reached the point of despair, Fenris, the king of the Shadow Wolf Clan—believed to have been extinct for years—appeared. He was not only Sable’s biological father, whom she had been separated from for more than twenty years, but also the last remaining Shadow Wolf Alpha in the world. Using the ancient Shadow Wolf bloodline, Fenris formed a special blood pact that stabilized Ember’s fading wolf spirit and saved his granddaughter. Only then did everyone discover the true source of the conspiracy: years ago, Isolde had betrayed Fenris, allied with hunters to massacre the Shadow Wolf bloodline, and spent years hunting down Sable and her mother. Now, she had once again used her own son Kaelan in an attempt to erase the final descendants of the Shadow Wolves.
After her injuries stabilized, Sable ignored her weakened condition and publicly issued a mother’s challenge. Fenris’s arrival completely suppressed the Black Marsh Pack, and he took Sable and Ember back to the hidden stronghold of the Shadow Wolves. Refusing to give up, Isolde joined forces with Petra to spread rumors, accusing Fenris of kidnapping and coercing Sable. She also petitioned the Wolf Council for a decree, seeking the execution of Ember, who carried the Shadow Wolf bloodline.
Wearing the Shadow Wolf crown left behind by her mother, Sable personally went before the Wolf Council to prove her innocence. She presented all the evidence of Isolde’s past crimes, including the massacre of the Shadow Wolves and the murder of Sable’s mother. Cornered, Isolde finally confessed all her crimes in front of the council. She even attempted to kill Ember herself, but was ultimately sentenced by the council to permanent exile and stripped of her ability to transform into a wolf.
Later, Maren uncovered crucial evidence: Petra had secretly added wolfsbane to the herbal medicine Sable took during her pregnancy, slowly poisoning both Sable and her unborn child. All of the poisoning was carried out under Isolde’s orders, and Petra had also secretly sold Black Marsh Pack secrets in exchange for protection. Forced to testify before the council, Petra exposed the truth that Kaelan had known everything from the beginning but deliberately allowed it to continue. The council determined that Kaelan had protected criminals and intentionally harmed his wife and daughter, leaving him to Sable’s judgment. Sable did not choose exile or a blood vengeance punishment. Instead, she completely severed every bond between them, leaving him to spend the rest of his life carrying the regret of destroying everything with his own hands. She also refused his request to see their daughter.
After the turmoil ended, Sable followed her father Fenris to master the power of the Shadow Wolves. She gathered displaced and oppressed werewolves and established a peaceful territory belonging to the Shadow Wolf Clan. During a council gathering, Toren, the Alpha of the Northern independent wolf pack, witnessed Sable’s strength and resilience. He recognized her as his fated mate and had quietly waited for her for years, continuously offering his care and support.
On the night of the full moon, Sable finally let go of the pain of her past and traveled to the Northern territory, accepting Toren’s feelings. The two held their bonding ceremony in neutral lands, raised Ember together, and united the two wolf packs in harmony. Meanwhile, Kaelan continued psychological healing while facing his own guilt and remorse. Six months later, Sable granted him the opportunity to meet his daughter again in the future.
