Alice’s 16th birthday turned into a nightmare. Her beloved father, who ran a quiet little tavern, was murdered—dragging her into the crosshairs of the mafia. Just as the killers closed in, her father’s old friend, Uncle Hector, appeared like a storm and saved her. He revealed the truth: her father had been an undercover cop inside the mafia. But instead of taking her in, Hector sent her to an orphanage, promising to return in two years. And he did—scarred, powerful, and ready to take her home. Alice thought she finally had her place, maybe even a future by his side. But then came the cruelest twist—Hector, the man she secretly dreamed of marrying, is the very one who killed her father.
