Caroline's mother, Jane, was cast out of the family for betrayal and later became a vegetable due to depression. Needing funds for her mother's treatment, Caroline returns to her father. There, she finds him with a new family. When her father, Brand, demands an apology for Jane's actions and refuses to help, Caroline is forced by Eve to take Maggie's place as a bride for Ethan, rumored to be a brute. At the wedding, the real Ethan, the secretive president of Dreame, reveals himself. Amidst ridicule from Daniel and complications with Jeff, Caroline endures tests, betrayal, and a kidnapping.
