After being driven away by her mother-in-law's instigation, Abby Reed left home only to be abducted. Five years later, she sent her daughter Molly Reed to seek help from her father Nathan Reid, using a jade pendant as a token. Nathan rescued Abby and devoted himself to making amends. Overcoming her trauma, Abby grew into a capable businesswoman. Along the way, they fought off the retaliation of Bruce Collier and exposed the traitorous plot of secretary Justin Barton.
