Series details In 2010s Georgia, USA, Scarlett Marlowe, the female protagonist, lived a life of constant hardship. After her mother’s third marriage, Scarlett entered the century-old Hawthorne Winery and was immediately regarded by the entire estate as a vicious stepsister who had come to steal the family fortune. Her gentle and innocent stepsister Lila viewed her with hostility and constantly excluded her. Elias, the calm and reserved adopted son and chief winemaker of the estate, believed Scarlett was only interested in wealth and deliberately targeted her at every turn. Even the servants and longtime workers secretly gossiped about her and made things difficult for her.
Scarlett possessed an extraordinary natural talent for wine tasting and winemaking. Despite being isolated by everyone, she hid in the century-old wine cellar to study the craft of winemaking. Her talent was unexpectedly discovered by Harlan, the owner of the estate, who allowed her to learn winemaking under Elias.
Lila repeatedly plotted against Scarlett, hiding her textbooks, pouring oil on the stairs, and fabricating theft accusations to frame her. Scarlett proved her innocence every time, yet she still failed to gain everyone’s trust. Her mother Veronica was vain and selfish, constantly scheming for the estate’s wealth. She secretly diverted winery operating funds to cover her gambling debts and even colluded with the rival Green Valley Winery, forging equity transfer documents in an attempt to sell the century-old Hawthorne legacy for a huge profit.
The series of scandals caused the shareholders to turn against Scarlett, leaving her completely isolated. At her lowest point, only Elias stood by her side, using all of his savings to cover the winery’s financial shortage. As they worked together day and night in the wine cellar, the two gradually let go of their prejudices, developing mutual understanding and romantic feelings.
Scarlett improved the winery’s recipes and won the gold medal at the statewide blind wine competition, making Hawthorne Winery famous overnight. Facing a series of vicious attacks from rival Green Valley Winery—including aggressive employee poaching, spreading rumors, bribing insiders to create quality scandals, and setting fire to large areas of the vineyard—Scarlett remained calm under pressure. She collected all evidence of their unfair competition, held a transparent public winemaking launch event to prove the winery’s reputation, and released a limited-edition commemorative wine named “Thorns” after her own journey. The pre-sale numbers skyrocketed, completely resolving the winery’s bankruptcy crisis.
Scarlett personally exposed the conspiracy between her mother and the rival winery. Although it broke her heart, she chose to cut ties with her greedy mother. However, when her mother was seriously injured by loan sharks and hospitalized, Scarlett still could not abandon her own blood relationship. She used everything she had to repay her mother’s enormous gambling debts and medical expenses.
After enduring all the hardships, Veronica finally realized her mistakes, gave up her greed, and chose to live a peaceful life. The mastermind behind the arson and business sabotage, Brown, the owner of Green Valley Winery, was convicted with undeniable evidence and sent to prison. The rival winery completely collapsed and entered liquidation.
After the storm finally settled, Elias proposed to Scarlett in the rose garden. The two held a simple yet heartwarming wedding in the flourishing vineyard. Lila was admitted to a prestigious business school and, after graduation, returned to expand the brand’s online business and develop fruit wines aimed at younger consumers. Veronica opened a small flower shop beside the estate and lived a stable life. Harlan’s health improved, and he transferred half of the winery’s shares to Scarlett and Lila, officially naming Scarlett as the core leader of Hawthorne Winery.
Five years later, Scarlett and Elias had a lovely daughter. The vineyard continued to flourish, and Hawthorne Winery celebrated its 120th anniversary.
The once lonely, sharp-edged stepsister who had been forced to live under someone else’s roof did not rely on sudden luck or anyone’s charity. With only her extraordinary winemaking talent, unwavering determination, and refusal to surrender, Scarlett crossed through countless thorns, protected the century-old estate, and gained a devoted life partner, a harmonious family, and a career she truly loved.
She finally escaped the turbulent past that had haunted her for years and created her own light with her own hands.
