He died in the year he loved me most Episode 1

Series details

Anne is diagnosed with a terminal illness and has only months to live. Years ago, when Ian was still poor, Anne broke up with him out of necessity. After Ian rises to the top of Wall Street, he seeks revenge for what he sees as her "gold‑digging" past, forcing her back into his life and subjecting her to endless humiliation—bringing other women home every night—while Anne quietly moves into a windowless study and counts down her remaining days on a calendar. Ian takes up with Chloe, a college student who resembles the young Anne. On Anne's birthday, she receives her terminal diagnosis; she goes to Ian seeking money for targeted therapy, but is provoked by Chloe and responds with gentle defiance. In the penthouse, Chloe breaks a glass and frames Anne; Ian refuses to believe she is sick, throws a check in her face, and forces her to kneel. Anne kneels, bleeding, and leaves—her heart dead. After taking sleeping pills to numb herself, she dreams of Ian buying her a cake in the snow years ago; that night, Ian actually brings one home, but Anne throws it in the trash. The next day, photos of Ian fighting over Chloe go viral; when questioned by reporters, Anne calmly says, "I'm not angry—I'm dying." At a Thanksgiving dinner, Anne coughs up blood and collapses; her best friend Lily publicly produces Anne's signed Do‑Not‑Resuscitate order and exposes Chloe's fake pregnancy scheme. Ian investigates and learns that Anne had left years ago because she discovered she carried a hereditary terminal illness and did not want to burden him. His worldview shattered, he goes mad with vengeance, pushing Chloe into ruin—but Anne has already been taken away by Lily. Ian rushes to the hospital with millions and a block of Antarctic ice that he and Anne had once promised to retrieve together. Anne is already intubated and cannot speak; she plays a recorded message coldly rejecting him: "Your love is too filthy." Outside the emergency room, doctors announce that her cancer has spread everywhere; Lily berates Ian for his past cruelty. On her deathbed, Anne begs Lily to hide her away; her will leaves her savings to Lily and donates all her assets to a women's terminal illness fund. She signs a body donation agreement and uses a legal injunction to erase Ian from her life entirely. Ian's mind collapses; his brain rewrites memory to escape the pain. Every day, he wanders the streets in Anne's old coat, clutching a broken pocket watch, forever imprisoned in the delusion he has built for himself. But that shattered silver pocket watch and those final words uttered outside the emergency room—will they become the last echo that can pierce through Ian's fading consciousness and reveal the truth?
