Late Bloom Never Too Late to Sing Episode 1

Series details

Sofia Su, a Grammy Best New Artist twenty years ago with 30 million albums sold, is now 42, broke and abandoned. She enters the talent show "Rising Star" and gets unanimous approval from the judges. Her backstory: she lost her grandmother while celebrating her Grammy win and never sang with true emotion again. Her ex-agent threatens a $5 million lawsuit, but she refuses to quit. In Round Three, she reveals her identity, sparking public debate. In the semifinals, she performs a punk song despite swollen vocal cords, screaming out two decades of resentment, and advances. In the final, she faces 18-year-old Cathy and wins with a new song, 53% to 47%. After winning, she signs only with Universal and Live Nation, sells out a 30-city tour, and announces it will be her last—"Before forty I sang for others; after forty, I sing for myself." She buys a small house, plants a cherry tree. Cathy moves next door. Judge Jack, who recognized her from the start, arrives with white roses. They stand together under the blossoms. This is a story about timing: at 42, not too early, not too late—you're still here, and so am I.
