Presidents Come and Go. I’m the One Who Rules Episode 1

Series details

The fictional Republic of Casavia is rich in rough diamonds, yet has long been torn apart by warlords, rebels, and foreign capital. Martin was originally just a local militia leader who, with the support of his wife Jessica’s father—a high-ranking figure in overseas politics—secured weapons, intelligence, mercenaries, and international recognition. He seized the presidential palace by force and became a puppet president installed by foreign powers. Now that Jessica’s father has just passed away, Martin—having lost his patron—is desperate to erase the history of the coup, sever ties with foreign powers, and establish himself as a legitimate president through general elections. To this end, he begins seizing the diamond mining rights and the country’s rough diamond export channels controlled by Jessica. This power realignment is accompanied by marital betrayal. While secretly investigating the transfer of mining rights at the presidential palace, Jessica personally caught Martin having an affair with Tina—the daughter of the Minister of Defense—in a private suite. Tina, a graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, is being groomed by the Greco military-political group as the next generation’s political and business heir. Faced with her husband’s ambition to swallow up the overseas funds and diamond resources left by her father and to completely sever ties with his old allies, Jessica did not confront him openly on the spot. Instead, she concealed her true intentions and plotted an internal purge targeting the president’s power and wealth, vowing to reclaim the mining rights, export channels, and her own political initiative. Fully aware of Martin’s greed, lust, and eagerness to shed the label of “overseas puppet,” Jessica launched a sexual entrapment operation. From among several beautiful women, she selected the ragged and scarred Vivian Laurent—the daughter of the former regime’s finance minister and chairman of the National Diamond Corporation. After seizing power, Martin purged the Laurent family, executing her father and confiscating all their property, forcing her to scavenge through trash to survive. Vivian also hated Jessica and her father for having helped bring Martin to power, but she hated Martin even more for personally destroying her entire family. The two distrustful enemies temporarily joined forces, positioning Vivian as the secret controlling shareholder of Crown Jewelry, the largest overseas jeweler, and using her beauty, shares, and access to rough diamonds to lure Martin step by step into their trap. The first deadly showdown of their revenge took place at the Casaavia Presidential Palace. To amuse himself, Martin had set up a private gambling room within the palace containing only a single gambling table, where high-ranking officials and generals would gather daily to play with him. Jessica trapped Tina—who had come to provoke her—at the card table and ordered Martin, who was skilled in gun tricks, to load the gun himself, setting in motion a gamble where life and loyalty were the stakes. Jessica then capitalized on Martin’s habit of cheating to turn the tables on Tina, thereby sounding the death knell for the dismantling of the president’s power base and the recapture of the Diamond Kingdom.
