The Mechanic's Contract Episode 1

Series details

Fiona Reeves is the female CEO of Reeves Group. Her father’s sudden death has left her with a massive inheritance and a shareholder-rights crisis. The board of directors watches her every move with covetous eyes, while the long-established Vance crime family seizes the moment to force her into marriage, aiming to swallow her corporation through an alliance. Desperate for a way out, Fiona stumbles into a run-down repair shop in Brooklyn, where she meets Louis Cole, a single father greased up and dressed in coveralls, fixing his daughter’s bicycle. She urgently needs a marriage to silence the board. Louis’s poverty and orphan status convince her this “hired arrangement” will be simple and manageable. The two sign a legally binding contract-marriage agreement: Fiona will pay Louis a substantial sum, and Louis will act as her devoted husband, with the contract set to expire automatically in six months. On their wedding day, Adrian, the second son of the Vance family, publicly humiliates Louis as “trash mechanic”. Louis merely offers a faint smile, yet this reaction stirs a flicker of unease within Fiona. After marriage, Louis remains mild and deferential around Fiona. He tends to his daughter Evie with meticulous care and wins the affection of all household staff. Still, every night when Fiona works overtime in her office, she catches sight of Louis through the floor-to-ceiling windows, standing on the balcony. His gaze is icy, fixed on a point along the Manhattan skyline, his fingers brushing an ancient ring. This seemingly ordinary mechanic slowly bares his sharp fangs amid Fiona’s contractual life. During a major merger-acquisition deal, Fiona’s company falls into a trap set by the Vance family, facing both a capital-chain collapse and pressure from the FBI. Cornered and about to sign a bailout agreement tantamount to selling herself, Louis stands before her holding a dossier. His voice is low and steady: “Fiona, do you really want to know why the Vances haven’t eliminated you?” He opens the file, which contains decades of the Vance family’s under-the-table dealings, evidence of illegal money-laundering, and records of a long-deceased federal witness — whose name is Louis Cole. Another faked-death identity rises again in the dark. He leads Fiona into a private office belonging only to the “Ghost Sovereign”, where the world’s top arms brokers and leaders of underground financial syndicates bow in deference to him. Fiona assumes Louis is acting out of protection for her, only to discover his true motives run far deeper. He never wanted a contractual marriage; he sought to leverage the legitimate standing of Fiona’s family to deliver final reckoning to the Vance clan — a blood feud spanning twenty years. Feeling exploited, Fiona tears up their contract in rage. Just as their relationship shatters, the Vance family targets Louis’s daughter Evie. Louis storms the Vance estate alone, rescuing his daughter amid a hail of gunfire. Fiona finally sees past the man’s ruthless exterior to his one true soft spot: the family he would die to defend. At the break of a safe dawn, she signs a new agreement. This time, it is not a hire-for-service deal, but a pact to stand side by side.
